Boom Rock Dogs

Adventure walks

We'll explore great beaches, parks and bush walks around Wellington and Lower Hutt.

With a maximum of 6 dogs in the pack, and our experienced dog handlers your dog will get lots of special attention and form a close bond with the other dogs.

We operate whatever the weather. Please provide a raincoat if your dog would rather stay dry (or you'd like them to stay a little cleaner!).

Coats that cover the chest and under the tummy, are lightweight, and comfortable to run in are perfect - we recommend something like RuffWear's Sun Shower jacket - https://ruffwear.com/products/sun-shower-dog-raincoat - available from Ruffwear and Amazon

Getting there and back

We pick up dogs from Lower Hutt and Wellington. Please get in touch to find out which days we are in your area.

We’re open Monday to Friday. We’ll collect your dog from your home, garden or workplace - if you're going to be away when we come to collect or drop your dog off, we can easily make access arrangements.

Our van is custom fitted with cages, and with a raised floor your dog can take in the view while we pick up their buddies and drive to our walking spot.

Prices, invoices & cancellations

It costs $39 per walk, which includes our pick up and drop home service. We'll be out walking for at least an hour, with a lovely drive to collect your dogs and their friends before and after. As standard we offer a 10% discount for dogs attending 3+ days per week.

Invoices are sent monthly on the last day of the month. Our terms of payment are payment in full within 7 days of our invoice. All collection agency costs are recoverable. Any accounts sent for debt collection incur our additional administration fee of $75.

Please let us know if you are going away or your dog is unable to attend. We have a waitlist of casual dogs that would love to have the odd day with us.

Cancellations can be made by email up to 48 hours before your booking. Late cancellations should be made by text message and will be accepted up to 12 hours before your booking. Failure to advise us of your cancellation will result in a full day charge being applied to your invoice.

Breed and behaviour

Your dog will need to be social (they will be sharing a cage in the dog van), and have basic obedience skills such as sit and come. We take a range of sizes and breeds and encourage (and expect) them all to mix with safe, social play.

Most of the dogs walk off-leash - but we're happy to walk your dog on-leash if that's a better option.

We don't take Pitbulls, Mastiffs, Staffies, Rottweilers, Bull Terriers, Dogue De Bordeaux, Ridgebacks, Shar Pei, Dobermans, German Shepherds. Please don't be offended - from our years of experience we find that these breeds just don't work on our small group walks.  Aggressive or dominant dogs are unfortunately not suited to Boom Rock Dogs .

Health

Male dogs aged over 8 months must be neutered, and un-speyed females kept at home while on heat.

All dogs must be vaccinated for Parvo, Distemper, Hepatitis and Kennel Cough. If your dog is receiving a long term vaccination such as DHP, please note you will still need an annual booster shot for Kennel Cough. Your dog should also be flea-treated regularly, and should ideally be registered with your local council.
